This last weekend was a great one! It started out on Saturday morning with a ward breakfast. We all went to a park, ate yummy food, and hung out for hours. The weather was perfect. No rain. Not too hot. Perfect.
Afterwards, Brad and I made our way to the Asian Festival going on at the Franklin Park Conservatory (same place that Med Prom took place). Asian Festival is an annual event that is apparently a bigger deal than we realized. Performers came all the way from Japan to dance at it (among other long-distance travelers, I'm sure). There is free entertainment, games, activities, exhibits, booths to shop for souvenirs from any and all the different Asian countries, and our favorite part: lots and lots of food to choose from. We got some yummy Filipino bbq and noodles. Stupidly, I didn't take any pictures but here is a link to the one-armed martial arts performer we saw.
Sunday night, we finally made it to the Park of Roses in Clintonville. It was beautiful but not all of the roses had bloomed yet. And we happened to show up during a free concert and got to listen to the bandstand music while looking at all the varieties of roses. Nice.
Monday morning we made our way down to Hocking Hills State Park. We met up with some friends and went hiking to Old Man's Cave and the lower falls. Holy crap that place is pretty. It was a hot day but we almost didn't notice because the trails were very well shaded and near streams. After the hikes we had a yummy Korean bbq dinner and headed back to Columbus.

Once we got back to Columbus we finally tried
Jeni's ice cream. We have heard a lot about Jeni's since we moved here and have meant to try it for a while now and we finally did it. Jeni's ice cream is different than your regular ice cream. I guess it is meant to be more flavorful than sweet. Some of the weirder sounding flavors include: Queen City Cayenne, Wildberry Lavender, and Gravel Road. I stuck with something more normal and got the Lemon and Blueberries yogurt and Brad got the Dark Chocolate. Yum yum!
And that, my friends, was our Memorial Day weekend. It was fun to experience more of Ohio and get to know the lovely state we live in.

When I went to Jeni's I had the lemon blueberry too --so good! And when you said Clintonville it made me nostalgic, that's where we lived in Ohio.
That hike does look beautiful! Sounds like a wicked awesome weekend! I'm glad you guys had a good time! I feel like I need more exclamation marks in this comment!!
