Jess's bookshelf: read
Dad Is Fat
by
Jim Gaffigan
Short and amusing.
tagged: 2015, funny, memoir, and non-fiction
Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption
by
Laura Hillenbrand
This book was intense and stressful, but so worth reading. It was informative, moving, and the ending was better than expected.
tagged: book-club, 2015, non-fiction, wwii, and sad
And the Mountains Echoed
by
Khaled Hosseini
My heart strings, they were tugged. Took me a bit to get into (let's be honest, haven't been a big reader lately) but once I did... ahh, so good.
tagged: 2015 and sad
Beyond Belief: My Secret Life Inside Scientology and My Harrowing Escape
by
Jenna Miscavige Hill
I've always thought the idea of Scientology was absurd. This book confirmed it. It was interesting to actually find out more about Scientology: the practices, beliefs, lifestyle, etc. I'll just say, I'm so glad she escaped!
tagged: 2015, non-fiction, memoir, and sad
Across the Universe
by
Beth Revis
Meh. Didn't bother finishing...
tagged: 2015, couldn-t-finish, fantasy, and sci-fi
